Dong Van Ancient Quarter Ha Giang Located at the center of Dong Van town. The vestige consists of the market and two villages (Quyet Tien, Dong Tam) of Dong Van commune. It was built on early years of the 20th Century. At first, the Old Quarter only has Tay and Hoa people. During years 1940, 1950 of the 20th Century, there are some ethnics like Kinh, Dao and Nung also settled in these area. It has distinct identities of local people.
Dong Van, a land of harsh life but bears the magic natural beauty of Vietnam has long been a famous spot for photo hunters because of miraculous beauty as sunset falls on stone rocks of cat-ears.
Until 2013, Dong Van, the mountainous frontier district in Vietnam's northeast corner was under military control and in order to visit, foreigners required special permits that were notoriously difficult to get. The problem with Sapa is the people are now used to tourists and they are not too interested in being friendly to them. But in Dong Van, the people are still wearing traditional clothes and living traditional lifestyles and are very happy to see you.
Although the Pu Peo is ethnic people in Ha Giang, they still preserved many liturgies and a folklore treasure. Along with other liturgies are held in the New Year, people prays dryad for the green of forest, security for people in the forest fest.
