Nung people mainly distribute in Quan Ba district, they live in valleys nearly rivers, streams or hills and live on farming rice, with high cultivation technique. Their animal husbandry highly developed while other handicraft makings are very diverse such as forging, casting, carpenters, knitting, paper making and especially cloth weaving.

The Mong is the largest ethnic group of seventeen ethnics community in Dong Van karst plateau Geopark. Mong people in Ha Giang province is similar to that in some northen mountainous border Viet Nam -China originated from China, then migrated to Vietnam more than 300 years ago.

Ha Giang Province is famous for Dong Van Geopark which is recognized as a Karst Plateau Global Geopark by UNESCO. The gateway to the geopark is called Quan Ba by local people meaning skydoor due to its height and the fact that fog always covers the top, which makes people think it is the door to the sky.

Sung La valley Dong Van Ha Giang. The house has special walls which are made from soil & mixed with straw, about 40-60cm in thickness. This house is 100 years old and it was used for making film “Pao’s story” which was then awarded several international prizes. The house became famous since then and lots of visitors came to see its architecture.
